The St David's Foundation supports the certification and recertification process for the nurses in the network. This has greatly enhanced the process. Approximately 35% of nurses have a specialty certification.

Vocational Nursing Program Updates
Presenter
Sandra McCrary-Marshall
Discussion
Sandra McCrary-Marshall reported. Report attached. Appendix B
As employers, we value your input into the development of this curriculum
Patti Ellisor asked how the program would justify reducing college revenue by decreasing the credit hours each student takes. E. Klein responded the college would not be so concerned with this loss of revenue of credit hours. A larger concern would be a bill currently in the legislature that would require an Associate Degree to be completed in 60 credit hours. It is uncertain if this would include work force programs. Currently the ADN program has 71 credit hours. The core curriculum established by the THECB mandates general education courses. Nursing credits would likely be reduced if the bill passes and is signed.
Sandra asked the committee for a recommendation regarding possible certifications that might be beneficial for Vocational Nursing student to obtain before graduation. Wound Care, Phlebotomy etc.
