Item # 1:	Review of April 2018 Minutes

Item # 2:	eStaffing Committee Membership

Discussion	Still awaiting AFA representatives. Otherwise, the membership is set for AY 2018-2019.

Item # 3:	Spring 2019 eStaffing

Discussion	A couple of departments contacted IT regarding how to proceed after prematurely completing phase 1 assignments. Other than that the only reported issue was a training issue for the Mathematics department which now has more complicated course section offerings due to co-requisites, and the adjunct faculty need to be updated on the changes.

Item # 4:	Appointment & Eligibility Status

Discussion	A new report has been created that lists the status of approved appoints and eligibility for each department in eStaffing. The Committee liked the report and would like to see it distributed just prior to the start of Phase 1 and Phase 2 of eStaffing each semester.

Item # 5:	Compliance Report - Recommendations for Improvement

Discussion	One suggestion was to create explanations for some of the fields, such that when the explanation is displayed when hovering over the field name. The other key comment as it relates to the Compliance Report relates to the requirement that Deans and Department Chairs of departments that are officially exempted from making course section assignments in eStaffing to keep accurate Appointment and Eligibility rosters. (see agenda item #7 below.)

Item # 6:	Future of eStaffing Training

Discussion	The need for adequate training was discussed. The consensus was that the Teaching & Learning Excellence Department would be a perfect fit for ensuring that Deans, Department Chairs, selected Department/Dean Admins, and Adjunct Faculty are trained adequately to use eStaffing proficiently. This is especially important for new Department Chairs. Matthew contacted Susan T during the meeting to alert her to the upcoming request.

Item # 7:	Discussion: Exempted Departments

Discussion	A case was argued that some of the smaller departments that had requested exemption but were not granted exemptions would like to see the decisions reviewed. The argument is that even though eStaffing functions adequately, it is not a desirable tool when departments have staffing challenges and the eStaffing tool cannot recognize the criticality or intensity of the section preference as selected by the adjunct. Thus, a small department with a limited pool of adjunct faculty loses qualified adjunct instructors on the basis of not working well to coordinate with the limited schedules of adjuncts that have other jobs or other commitments. The Committee understands this argument.
