The Meet the Firms meeting was a huge success with many of the firms involved expressing their opinions on the impact of this type of meeting with the students being involved. The only negative opinion was that the room it was held in was a bit too cramped, perhaps in the future the meeting could be held at HLC. Two of our students mentioned to Larry that they had passed their CPA Exam and that their success was due to the Accounting Faculty at ACC. Suzon Tropez-Holmes would be coming to speak to the students in the future

Denise reported on TracDat. Inclusion of another assessment for upper level courses by administration was suggested because they do not feel that it being from the outside that it was enough, it was suggested that we come up with our own assessment for these courses, changing the assessment to align with our PLSO to 80% of students with a 70% or better in their grades.

Dr. Peoples mentioned that having 3 of ACCT 2301 and ACCT 2302 online had not affected the classrooms in the schedules. Dr. Peoples will be changing textbooks in the Fall semester for the ACT 2301 online course. Dr. Peoples will be working on videos, syllabus changes in the ACNT 1303 course to include financial statements and management.

Any adjunct faculty serving on the Task Force will be getting a stipend. Dr. Peoples mentioned that there will be an evaluation process for Assistant Department Chairs semester by semester starting in the Fall 2018 Semester. He will be checking on the required office hours for Full Time faculty. All faculty must be actively using Blackboard and when they are out they need to post it on Blackboard.

There was some discussion on the qualifications of high school teachers teaching the ACCT 2301 and ACCT 2302 classes at the high school level. They must be accredited in order to give the Final Exam and the students receiving credit for the courses. The Task Force will discuss it further in another meeting. Students taking Final exams cannot use a dictionary. Cynthia mentioned that she lets them use it for online testing only to translate from their language to English. Talked about faculty re-assignments due to Sheila retiring at the end of Summer 2018 and possibly the hiring of two new Full time Faculty for the Fall Semester.
