Discussion
E. Huss began her report by informing the committee that this semester the Re-Entry Nursing program has 12 LVN's being re-certificated, along with many students from all around the world, there are students from England, New Zealand, and the United Arab Imm. ACC-CE has opened communications with the BNE regarding the Nurse Re-entry program and they are very happy to direct students to ACC for re-certification training.
Updates on CE Offerings:
* A Nursing Skills class is being offered to nurses who have been out of the clinical area and needs additional training and practice before returning to the clinical floor.
* CE has started an advanced IV Therapy class. It does not have credit associated with it but the class has been filled with 15-20 students each time it has been offered.
* CE is attempting to open up a Nurse Aide training course in Cedar Park it will be offered at the new Cypress Creek Nursing lab. The Nurse Aide classes have doubled in size from what they were one year ago.
* CE is offering a new ESL CNA course, this is a 10 hour per week course with 60 hours of language and 60 hours of nurse aid training. There are no requirements mandated for students to take this course.
* On March 28th ACC's CE and the ADN departments have joined together to offer a Critical Thinking Seminar for Nurse Educators. The National League of Nursing will be providing the speaker Rosaline Lafife. J. Ward interjected that if ACC is going to offer quality professional development to nurses, we must have community support. Eileen Klein suggested that Elizabeth and Jeanie get the word out quickly to the community about the Critical Thinking seminar via email and flyer. J. Ward added that if ACC can sponsor this kind of event and it is successful, then the NLN will make sure to provide at least one quality speaker to Central Texas each year. The Critical Thinking Seminar will be listed in the Spring 08 CE schedule as RNSG 2001 start day 3-28-08, the cost to attend will be $125.00 per person.
* P. Recek asked Ms. Huss if the CE program were having difficulty with the students meeting their immunization requirement. Ms. Huss responded that the student are struggling to meet the requirements, but that is has not been a deterrent for them taking the classes.
The committee was informed that all students are allowed to get free immunizations through the Travis County Health Department, currently this is only in Travis county, but Williamson county is looking to also open up their immunization clinics to under insured adults.

Discussion
Need for Adjunct Faculty: With the increase in enrollment and progression along with the increased admission numbers, the program needs nine adjunct faculty for the Spring semester to teach the clinical courses. Mainly the need is in the medical surgical areas and pediatrics. These faculty must have a Masters in Nursing. The salary is approximately $50.00/hr. Interested individuals would need to be available 2-3 days per week. Offering various shifts. J. Ward asked the members of the committee to review the brochure and share with it with the staff in their facilities.
Adjunct Faculty Nursing Skills Pool: ACC-ADN Nursing desire to start a pool of nurses who can work in the nursing skills lab (teaching skills). This might be desirable for a retired nurse or one who wants part-time employment. The salary would be approximately $35.00/hr. Can be a B.S or M.S. prepared nurse.
J. Ward informed the committee that there are skills lab hours all day, every day during the week. K. Lauchner interjected that if the adjunct faculty are not hired by December 7, the ADN program will start reducing enrollment for the Spring by 10 students for every faculty position that the program is short.
