Summer Course Offerings-The program will be offering all RNSG courses in the summer to allow for students to graduate from teh program in an accelerated time frame.
Skills Competency- All levels (1-4) have a comprehensive mastery skills check-off at the beginning of each semester in an effort to increase skills competency. (The Acute Care setting would like to have a copy of the copetencies each level of student would need). Gail Acuna would like Jeanie to give an update regarding the skills competencies process once it has been used for a few semesters.
Gail Acuna asked for a list of what skills each level of students is capable of performing. J. Ward will email this list to Gail Acuna.

Need for Adjunct Faculty: with the increase in enrollment and lower attrition; that program needs an additional 5 adjunct faculty for this spring semester. See brochure and share with facilities.
New Full-Time Faculty positions-ACC has approved two new full-time faculty positions and they will be hire to begin in the Spring 2007 semester.
Nursing Skills Lab-Cypress Creek expansion and renovation-the nursing lab at Cypress will be moving in 2007 to a newly renovated skills lab located on this campus.

Vocational Nursing ACAP

Pat Recek presented information regarding the ACAPS. The Committee members will be asked to make recommendations for this committee. The committee must be made up of nurses who are actually doing the job, not Head Nurses or Human Resources people but rather the people who are in the trenches daily. Feb. 2 will be the RN and Feb 9th the LVN program. G. Acuna asked Jeanie how many nurse they will need from each system.

Continuing Education-Program Updates

During the period of Aug. 2005-June 2006 the nurse refresher program has serviced 102 students. 84 were RN's and 18 were LVN's. Yvonne VanDyke asked what the BON currently requires for nurse refresher clinically. K. White informed the committee that currently the BON requires 80 hours of clinical time.
CE can place the student anywhere there is an RN available to supervise the Nurse refresher. Elizabeth Huss informaed the commitee that they have had several schools outside the state contact them regarding the purchase of this program.
K. Burkman asked if the competencies can be sent to the committee. K. White will send the list of competencies to Sheila Rodriguez and she will email out to the members of the committee.
