Item # 1:	Nomination of Chair and Vice Chair
Presenter	Jean Ward
Discussion	Yvonne VanDyke was elected to serve ast Chair of the Nursing Continuing Educational Advisory Committee.

Item # 2:	Approval of Agenda
Presenter	Yvonne Van Dyke
Discussion	Motion to approve the agenda as written was made by Yvonne VanDyke, seconded by Gail Acuna. Agenda approved.

Item # 3:	Approval of Minutes

Discussion	Minutes from the 2-16-06 meeting were approved with the names of the Hospitals updated to reflect current changes.

Item # 4:	Asso. Degree Nursing Program Data

Discussion	Level 1-108 Level 2-72 Level 3-101 Level 4-46 Mobility Track-33 Projected Fall Enrollment: 110 Graduates- Summer 2006-46 Fall 2006-46 Spring 2006-projected-101 NCLEX-RN Pass Rate-96.40 % pass rate for the fourth quarter of 2006

Item # 5:	Asso. Degree Curriculum

Discussion	Summer Course Offerings-The program will be offering all RNSG courses in the summer to allow for students to graduate from teh program in an accelerated time frame. Skills Competency- All levels (1-4) have a comprehensive mastery skills check-off at the beginning of each semester in an effort to increase skills competency. (The Acute Care setting would like to have a copy of the copetencies each level of student would need). Gail Acuna would like Jeanie to give an update regarding the skills competencies process once it has been used for a few semesters. Gail Acuna asked for a list of what skills each level of students is capable of performing. J. Ward will email this list to Gail Acuna.

Item # 6:	Asso. Degree Nursing-Faculty Positions and Nursing

Discussion	Need for Adjunct Faculty: with the increase in enrollment and lower attrition; that program needs an additional 5 adjunct faculty for this spring semester. See brochure and share with facilities. New Full-Time Faculty positions-ACC has approved two new full-time faculty positions and they will be hire to begin in the Spring 2007 semester. Nursing Skills Lab-Cypress Creek expansion and renovation-the nursing lab at Cypress will be moving in 2007 to a newly renovated skills lab located on this campus.

Item # 7:	Asso. Degree Nursing-Grants and MOU's

Discussion	Jeanie Ward thanked the Seton and St. David's partnerships for the new MOU which began this Fall 2006 and will end in August 2010.

Item # 8:	Vocational Nursing Program Data

Discussion	Spring Student Enrollment: * Level 1-38 (40 Admitted; 2 did not register) Criminal background check process limits late admissions. * Level 3-28 * Level 4-28 Graduates: * May 2006-23 December 2006-28 projected NCLEX-PN Results: May 2006 -100% of the May graduates -1 December 2005 graduate tested in May 2006-passed -1 December 2005 graduate, testing status unknown

Item # 9:	Vocational Nursing-Pilot Project with ADN-Alternat

Discussion	-Three VNG students enrolled in Level II of the generic ADN program -One VNG student passed challenge exam and entered Level III of the ADN program.

Item # 10:	Vocational Nursing ACAP
Presenter	Pat Recek
Discussion	Pat Recek presented information regarding the ACAPS. The Committee members will be asked to make recommendations for this committee. The committee must be made up of nurses who are actually doing the job, not Head Nurses or Human Resources people but rather the people who are in the trenches daily. Feb. 2 will be the RN and Feb 9th the LVN program. G. Acuna asked Jeanie how many nurse they will need from each system.

Item # 11:	Continuing Education-Program Updates

Discussion	During the period of Aug. 2005-June 2006 the nurse refresher program has serviced 102 students. 84 were RN's and 18 were LVN's. Yvonne VanDyke asked what the BON currently requires for nurse refresher clinically. K. White informed the committee that currently the BON requires 80 hours of clinical time. CE can place the student anywhere there is an RN available to supervise the Nurse refresher. Elizabeth Huss informaed the commitee that they have had several schools outside the state contact them regarding the purchase of this program. K. Burkman asked if the competencies can be sent to the committee. K. White will send the list of competencies to Sheila Rodriguez and she will email out to the members of the committee.
