Course Requirements

All Chapter quizzes (Chapters 1-10) are available online. Each Quiz is worth 100 points and the cumulative quiz total will account for 40% of your Final Grade. The Quizzes are graded automatically and recorded in the grade book. The Cumulative Total of your Quiz grades will be divided into the maximum of 1000 points (100 points-10 quizzes) and then multiplied by 40%. The Mid-Term (chapters 1-5) and Final Exam (Chapters 6-10) will account for 60% of your Final Grade.

Student Learning Outcomes/Learning Objectives

Course Description:               An introduction to the real estate finance industry. Topics include the nature and cycle of real estate finance; the money and monetary system; the secondary mortgage market; instruments of real estate finance; processing real estate loans; closing real estate loans; and defaults and foreclosures.

 

Course Rationale:                  The purpose of this course is to prepare the student for employment or interacting with the mortgage and real estate industry. This course will help students develop the understanding and skills necessary to become successful real estate professionals and or consumers.  Finance Principles are not just about textbook learning: it challenges students to use their critical/creative skills in all aspects of the Real Estate Lending Industry, not just those covered in this course.

 

Course Objectives:                Understand how finance and real estate principles are related to other business functions and its importance to the success of the general economy. Be able to identify, analyze, and use sources of local and national financial data and local economic information to be successful in the industry. Understand good finance practices and techniques and how to apply them.

 

Instructor Objectives:            Each student will be able to take the knowledge from the classroom and apply it in the business world toward reaching their Real Estate License and/or goals in the lending professions.
