2. Course Description:

This course is inteded to provide the student wih a working knowledge of the theories, techniques, and processes of public relations including means of influencing methods of building good will, analysis of media, obtaining publicity, and implementation of public relatios programs. Skills R

3. Required Text: The Practice of Public Relations 14th edition by Seitel, Fraser, 2020 copywrite, Pearson Pub..  This text book is the only acceptable textbook for this course.

This text is part of theFDA (First Day Access) program,where the text is part of the tuition that you have paid

4. Orientation for Public Relations:

This is a distance learning course.  The student must read and understand the syllabus and the class schedule and deadlines that are posted on the ACC Blackboard site.  This must be accomplished during the 1st week of the semester.  In addition to an orientation email addressing the understanding of the syllabus, it must contain the answers to 6 questions that are listed in the syllabus.  Unless the orientationemail is submitted completely, the student may be withdrawn.

7. Test Review Notes and Power Point Slides

These items are posted in the syllabus that is on the  Blackboard Web site.

8. Assignments: Chapter Questions

The chapter questions assignments are listed in the syllabus in the Blackboard web site.

9. Assignments: Case Studies

The assigned case studies are posted in the Blackboard web site.

10. Withdrawals:

It is the student's responsibility to withdraw from the course if  the siutation so dictates.  Failure to successfully complete the course or withdraw from the course will result in a grade of "F"  which will become part of the student's  record.

The instructor may withdraw a student for lack of progress or failure to take tests and/or submit assignments.  All tests and assighnments are required.  Therefore it is important to keep  the instructor informed if there is any delays to your testing or submission of your assignments.

11. Tests & Assignment Deadlines:

Tests and assignments have established deadlines that are listed in the Syllabus that is available on Blackboard.  If a student finds that they can not meet a deadline for either of these items, they are to contact the instructor.  Items not submitted in the manner required or late will have points deducted for the test and/or assignment.

Test are in 2 parts.  Test Essay part are taken at home and submitted in the prescribed link in Blackboard.  Since the testing centers are closed due to the virus pandemic, the multiple choice tests are taken at home using the Respondus Lockdown Browser.  Instructions on how to download this is listedin the syllabus and announcements.  Chromebook can not be used since they are not compatable with Respondus software.

Test 1 covers Chapters 1 - 4

Test 2 covers Chapters 5 - 8

Test 3 covers Chapters 9 - 12

Test 4 covers Chaptes 13 -18

In addition each chapter has assigned questions that are assigned and are to be submitted in Blackboard by a due date listed in the syllabus.

There are also 4 case studies that are assigned and to be submitted in Blackboard.
