Course Requirements

This syllabus may be modified at any time. This section is designed to offer continious remediation in developmental writing when other courses may not be appropriate.The curriculum will be include the completion of MySkillsTutor, a very complete study of basic English grammar and the principles of college writing. The on-line activities will be administered by the staff of the learning lab at the Round Rock Campus. Completion of this section will NOT satisfy a student's TSI requirement.

Readings

MySkillsTutor to be accessed by the student in the learning lab.

Course Subjects

Students will complete a thorough review of English grammar and begin studying the basic aspects of a paragraph and eventually the college essay.

Student Learning Outcomes/Learning Objectives

At the end of this course, students will have

 begun development in English grammar

 worked on spelling and punctuation

reviewed the principles of subject/verb agreement, tense, and irregular verbs

avoided comma splices, run-ons, and fragments

 been shown  the rules of comma placement

 begun to write college paragraphs
