Teaching Experience

Vance Powell is an Adjunct Faculty Professor for the Austin Community College in the Financial Management and Real Estate Program Areas. He has been an instructor for ACC since 2004. He instructed for the American College of Real Estate on a part-time basis for six years (1978-1984). He was an approved instructor for the Society of Real Estate Appraisers on a part-time basis for an additional five years (1985-1990). 

Professional Publications

Vance Powell is an independent Fee Appraiser and Market Analyst. In addition to appraisals he represents clients in site acquisitions for property development and/or tenant representation. He was previously associated with Pohl, Brown & Associates, Inc. (1995-1999), a real estate brokerage, development and syndication company. He assisted in property acquisition, brokerage, evaluation/valuation, investment analysis, and property development. Prior to his affiliation with Pohl, Brown & Associates, he was CEO/President of Powell, Osenbaugh and Associates, Inc. (1981-1993), a real estate Analysis, Appraisal, and Consulting Corporation. Since 1973 Vance has been actively involved in numerous aspects of the real estate profession and is experienced in real property appraisal, acquisition, development, counseling, management, and instruction.  He has testified as an expert witness in Bexar, Comal, Dallas, Harris, Travis, and Williamson Counties in Texas; as well as in Greenville, North Carolina and holds a State of Texas Real Estate Brokers License.  His appraisal experience encompasses all types of commercial and residential properties. From 1981 to 1985 he served as the local Chairman of the Education Committee.  From 1983 through 1985 he participated and was the Discussion Leader in the Young Advisory Council, sponsored by the SREA.  After serving in all of the local officer positions he was elected the SREA Chapter President during 1987-1988.  He served 3 years (1985, 1986, and 1987) on the National SREA Foundation and the National Continuing Education Committee.  Vance served six years on the SREA Standard of Professional Practice committee and served two years (1989-1990) on the AIREA Regional Standards Committee.  He served on the Regional Standards of Professional Practice Committee for the newly merged Appraisal Institute. From 1989-1990 he served two years on the AIREA National Division of Professional Recognition Committee.  During 1991 he served on the Appraisal Institute’s National Public Relations Committee and was an elected Chapter Regional Representative.

Vance Powell has extensive experience in providing analysis on properties in litigation for condemnation, bankruptcy, divorce, Federal taxation, and civil suits.  Clients include banks, savings and loans, government agencies, developers/builders, and law firms.  Counseling services include: site selection, property acquisition, portfolio analysis, trend studies, zoning cases, feasibility analysis, tenant representation, railroad right-of-ways, fiber optic easements, and expert witness testimony.
