Nick Sarantakes Vita

 

Qualifications: I earned a Master of Science from George Washington University, located in Washington, D. C. and a Bachelors of Arts Degree from the University of Texas at Austin.  In addition, I have earned 2 Associates of Applied Science Degrees from Austin Community College.  I have attended St. Mary’s University of San Antonio and San Antonio College.

I have been teaching at Austin Community College for about 37 years.  First in the Management Department and then in the Marketing Department.  I have also taught at the University of Texas at Austin and at Concordia University.

 

I have 22 years of managerial and marketing experience being employed by the U. S. Government.  In addition I have operated my own small business marketing firm with my wife.  I have authored a Marketing Student Workbook for a major publisher and have been involved in writing an article for Money Magazine.

 

While employed with the government, I managed 5 restaurant /clubs, 10 retail facilities along with a wholesale distribution center, a large supermarket and food distribution operation, and housing development consisting of over 5,000 dwellings.

 

In education, I have been employed by the University of Texas at Austin for 3 years as an Associate Professor.  I have been an Adjunct Professor at Austin Community College in the Management Department for 2 years.  I have been a full time Professor at Austin Community College first in the Management Department and then in the Marketing Department for 23 years.  My area of interest and specialization has been marketing in small business, customer service, selling, and retailing.

 

I have served Assistant Dean of Business Studies and as Department Chair for Marketing, Financial Management and Real Estate.  Currently I serve as a Professor of Marketing.
