Teaching Experience

Austin Community College, Visual Communication Department
September 1990 – present: Instructor of Digital Publishing I and II, Vector Graphics and Digital Imaging
    •  teach beginning and advanced preparation of electronic pre-press art for print reproduction using Adobe InDesign for page layout production
    •  teach Adobe Illustrator to create and manipulate vector artwork for print, multimedia and online graphics.
    •  teach Adobe Photoshop to create, modify and organize raster images. Attention to use of selection tools, layers, channels, type effects, masks, and filters, as well as understanding scanning, optimizing and choosing file formats for images used for web and print output.
    •  develop, update and modify curriculum as needed.

American Heart Association, Texas Affiliate, Graphic Design and Production Manager
September 1988 – August 2002
    •    designed, illustrated and produced publications, displays and slides.
    •    worked with each department of the organization developing effective materials.
    •    set up and maintained a graphics work station.
    •    purchased printing of association materials.  
Software skills: use of Adobe InDesign and QuarkXPress for page layout production, Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop to create and manipulate artwork, Microsoft Power Point on a PC for presentations and MSWord for editing text.

October 1986 – August 1988  
    •    managed team responsible for production of the Jet Gazette, Bergstrom Air Force Base’s weekly newspaper.
    •    implemented change from traditional layout and production to Mac-based desktop publishing.
    •    designed and produced brochures, newsletters, ads, proposals and advertising supplements.
    •    supervised production artists and typesetters, scheduled department work flow, and communicated with
printers concerning costs and production of projects.
