Chief of Staff, Head of Program Execution- World Wide Design Division                                                     

Responsible for all program management, Operations and Program Execution for a Division with 1000 engineers worldwide.

  • Implemented a consistent project reporting methodology including set reports, meetings and reviews to track progress of over 40 major projects across seven sites comprising IP, Cores and SOC development.

  • Created a Resource management tool and methodology to track, allocate, and predict resource needs, gaps and skillsets requirements for 1000 engineers over a 24 month window.

  • Responsible for a $100 million multinational expense budget.

Managed a team of 15 people responsible for all program management, strategy and partnerships for the Computer Connectivity Division.

  • Analyzed the existing structure, created an integrated strategy and partnership methodology which led to 25% increased productivity enabling the closure of 12 intellectual property partnerships and the generation of three acquisition proposals ($50 to  $300 million).

  • Standardized program management methodology and drove the migration to new program and business management toolsets which enabled 50 development programs to be developed with a 25% decrease in PM headcount, increased financial visibility which resulted in 90% of the programs staying on or returning to plan.

Product Line Director, High Volume Wi-Fi Segment                                                                              2003

Business and P&L manager for a $100 million 802.11b multi-platform product line.  Responsible for portfolio and program management, priority setting, pricing business model, strategy, and product roadmap generation.

  • Accelerated a key development program from 30 to 20 months through an innovative development partnership, realignment of resources restructuring the roadmap and moving to The Netherlands for six months to ensure smooth startup, team focus and motivation.

Director Program Management Corporate Initiative                                                                2002 to 2003

Improved the overall execution of development programs by enhancing and standardizing program management using industry and local best practices for a $3 billion company.

  • Executed a three pronged improvement plan after detailed a detailed evaluation (including assessment of 68 program managers and 8 General Managers and divisions). Focused on Tools, Best practices/training and common methodology. Created a company wide program management development plan.  Developed and instituted common metrics for improvement tracking.

  • Marketing Consultant for a call center software development company.  Generated marketing themes, value propositions and explored new target markets.

  • Startup consultant for a business services organization focusing on post funding activities.  Generated collateral, value propositions and authored business plan with founders.

 

MOTOROLA, INC. - Semiconductor Products Sector  Austin, TX                                         1998 to 2001

Director of Networking Memories Operation                                                                            2000 to 2001

General Manager with full Profit and Loss responsibility for a 150 person organization which included design, marketing, test, failure analysis, product engineering, and business planning.

  • Conducted a detailed evaluation of product lines and personnel which provided a framework for a swift and comprehensive major restructuring that was executed in four months (two months ahead of schedule).

  • Decreased revenue from $300 million to $200 million in order to increased profit from a projected $34 million loss to breakeven and improve inventory by $15 Million.

  • Developed new revenue sources while redirecting headcount to three key programs and instituting program management for all development programs.

  • Reduced headcount from 150 people to 90 placing 90% of displaced workers within the company.

Manager of a 45 person Digital and Analog design team specializing in high speed communications including ADSL (Full Rate and G-LITE), and Cable Modem design as well as sustaining for Codecs and ISDN.

IBM/Motorola joint Somerset Design Center

Program Manager G4E PowerPC                                                                                                                

Program Manager for the G4E PowerPC. The design team consisted of over 100 engineers from IBM and Motorola. Managed a budget of over $20 million. Responsibilities included leading a cross-functional development team, product management, customer relations, product specification, contingency planning, personnel management of 50 people, process design, strategic and tactical planning.  Transferred to Motorola when IBM exited the joint development center. Met or exceeded design goals and milestones.
