General Statement of Job

The Faculty Recruitment Coordinator will help the Austin Community College District recruit the best possible applicants for full-time and adjunct faculty positions to support the college's diversity, equity, and inclusion goals.  Designs, develops, and implements strategic recruiting programs focused on diversity and inclusion.  Researches hiring best practices and outreach methodologies to market ACCD as an employer of choice.  Collaborates closely with instructional leaders to meet the recruitment needs of instructional programs.  Coordinates both broad and focused advertising in support of instructional programs that are hiring, and serves as the primary contact for locating potential faculty applicants via academic conferences and groups, career fairs, traditional media, social media, and other related outlets.  Facilitates data collection around faculty hiring needs and goals.

Description of Duties and Tasks

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Designs, develops, and implements innovative outreach programs using equity, diversity and inclusion best practices in support of ACC's strategic faculty hiring initiatives.
  2. Researches best practice for full life cycle recruitment programs, with a focus on equity, diversity, and inclusion.
  3. Creates comprehensive recruitment strategies including advertising plans, outreach, training (as needed) and tracking in collaboration with Human Resources, instructional leaders, and the Chief Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Officer.
  4. Creates and maintains candidate pools of qualified candidates through frequent contact and notifications of positions.  Builds a pipeline of qualified and diverse candidates.
  5. Represents ACCD and participates in recruitment events locally, statewide and nationally.Fosters strong candidate relationships in person, via telephone, email, social media, etc. which may include utilizing new technologies when necessary.
  6. Develops and implements social media strategies to position ACCD as an employer of choice.
  7. Tracks talent acquisition metrics and provides data and reports on a regular basis.  Monitors and evaluates effectiveness of recruitment programs, makes adjustments as needed.
  8. Collaborates with hiring departments to create equity, diversity, and inclusion plans for recruitment as well as ongoing outreach programs.  Provides guidance and acts as a subject matter expert on recruitment for full-time and adjunct faculty positions.
  9. As needed, supports training of hiring committee members on inclusion advocacy and diversity and equity strategies.
  10. Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local requirements and follows College recruitment guidelines.
  11. Performs general recruiting and recruitment planning. Develops and maintains strategic partnerships with diverse groups and communities.
  12. In collaboration with Human Resources, helps develop, recommend and implement print advertising for open faculty positions, both full-time and adjunct.
  13. In collaboration with instructional leadership, identifies tools to recruit for open faculty positions based on education requirements, job duties, specialized needs, or other hiring preferences.
  14. Locates potential faculty applicants through both traditional and non-traditional means, including career fairs, attendance at academic conferences or other related events, connecting with alumni organizations, minority serving institutions, historically black colleges and universities, employers in the region and state, etc.
  15. Assists with applicant screening and applicant tracking as needed; assists with department referrals and provision of human resources documents related to faculty appointments.
