General Statement of Job

Under the direction of the District Security Manager, monitors, implements, maintains, and documents that controls are in place to support security management systems within Austin Community College (ACC) college wide to ensure the protection of personnel and assets from damage and harm.

Description of Duties and Tasks

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Prepares documentation of current systems, changes to configuration items, inventory, tasks and daily service request, etc. to keep accurate records of physical security systems.
  2. Works and coordinates with IT electronic technicians on assigned installations, repairs or diagnostics on security systems.
  3. Tracks service requests and enters all security related items into database.
  4. Performs day-to-day monitoring and administration of security related tasks such as physical access control, logistical access to physical security systems, and keying/locksmith systems and device health checks, and campus communications as needed.
  5. Documents and tracks devices on existing security systems, including devices associated with key, card access, motion detection, intrusion, and camera systems, including location and any other related information.
  6. Conducts campus and district security audits.
  7. Maintains door inventory, inspection and key tracking system(s).
  8. Develops draft security work instructions and procedures for approval.
  9. Performs testing and validation of installations and repairs using a variety of tools for network and power analysis.
  10. Evaluates, diagnoses, troubleshoots systems, and mechanisms that affect ACC security systems.
  11. Performs proactive security device cleaning and maintenance in coordination with IT Physical Security.
  12. Provides end user support and guidance on physical security software, hardware and systems usage, ranging from beginners to expert users.
  13. Performs data entry as required to add monitored points and new configuration items across each system, as needed for security management and control.
  14. Provides support for the Texas School Safety Compliance Audit and compliance.
  15. Coordinates with administration, departments and external groups to resolve security related issues by applying process/management solutions.
  16. Responds to emergency situations during or after hours for the purpose of resolving immediate safety/security concerns.
  17. Assists other college and external personnel for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities (i.e., coordination with electricians, locksmith, carpenters, and IT electronic technicians, etc.).
  18. Provides end user support and guidance on physical security management systems.
