General Statement of Job

Supports and enhances the effectiveness of the Office of the Executive Vice President (EVP) of Campus Operations and Public Affairs by taking responsibility for assignments that can be delegated, writing and editing documents, coordinating prompt follow up for the EVP's conversations and meetings with business and governmental leaders, and bringing creative problem-solving to complex operational issues, always with a commitment to excellence.

Description of Duties and Tasks

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Supervises, trains, coaches, directs, coordinates, and disciplines personnel while adhering to organizational human resource policies and procedures as well as related employment laws.  Recommends hire and termination personnel actions for positions supervised.
  2. Carries out assignments within the scope of the Executive Vice President (EVP), including shaping initiatives; collaborating with staff and teams; developing objectives; developing detailed execution plans and executing them; providing status reports and documentation, and assessing results.
  3. Acts as a point of contact for EVP's direct reports, providing clarification on broader Campus Operations and Public Affairs strategies, business plans, and appropriate objectives for projects.   Prioritizes and assists with allocating resources for special projects.
  4. Directs and manages special projects which may include but are not limited to transportation, economic development, legislative priorities.
  5. Attends meetings with the EVP and ensures follow up actions that result from the EVP's role as ACC's key point of contact for business and government, educational leaders, the public, and the media are completed and documented in an expeditious manner.
  6. Serve as representative of the EVP at meetings and/or on committees as needed in a spirit that is open, positive, efficient, innovative, curious, courteous, and energized.
  7. Participates in meetings, works within the EVP's schedule, and steps up to assist whenever and wherever as needed.
  8. Composes effective cases for the EVP for changes in policies, processes, or priorities.
  9. Prioritizes diversity, equity and inclusion into daily tasks and in all endeavors.
  10. Monitors communications to be prepared to support the EVP in any one of a variety of functions, and to do so quickly.
  11. Develops written correspondence, presentations, policies, and procedures which include reviewing existing documents for edits, updates, tracking, etc.
  12. Proactively identifies and engages in the department to offer ideas, strategies, and recommendations to sort out unstructured problems and complex issues.
  13. Conducts research, analyzes, summarizes, and/or gathers information from studies to offer ideas, recommendations that may affect the Office of Campus Operations and Public Affairs.  Assists with the preparation of reports, speeches, and presentations as needed.
