General Statement of Job

This role is typically engaged as the highest-level technology expert on a project team. Responsible for analyzing and translating business, information and technical requirements into an architectural blueprint that outlines solutions to achieve business objectives.  Viewed as a technical expert and critical resource across multiple disciplines.

Description of Duties and Tasks

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Understands business drivers and business capabilities (future and current state), and determines corresponding enterprise system designs and change requirements to drive the organization's targeted business outcomes.
  2. Designs and leads the implementation of a solutions architecture across a group of specific business applications or technologies based on enterprise business strategy, business capabilities and business requirements.
  3. Manages and develops the architecture for a broader scope of projects, working closely with the individuals who manage and design the application architecture for a single project or initiative.
  4. Provides consulting support to project teams to ensure application architecture is aligned with the overall enterprise architecture.
  5. Understands technology trends and the practical application of existing, new, and emerging technologies to enable new and evolving business and operating models.
  6. Responsible for creating and maintaining current and future state documentation.
  7. Partners with business analysts, systems analysts and engineers in requirements gathering and reviews. 
  8. Works with enterprise architecture, application and infrastructure teams to produce an optimal, high level, conceptual design for the project.
  9. Develops enterprise level solutions that integrate across applications, systems and platforms.
  10. Proposes changes in process, policy and standards as they relate to the architecture and design principles.
  11. Researches and maintains knowledge in emerging technologies and solutions to solve business problems.
