General Statement of Job

To direct Austin Community College's (ACC) Career Scholars Program across the District.  

THIS IS A GRANT FUNDED POSITION THROUGH THE MICHAEL AND SUSAN DELL FOUNDATION. GRANT APPROVED THROUGH MAY 5, 2025.

Description of Duties and Tasks

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Supervises, trains, coaches, directs, coordinates, and disciplines assigned personnel while adhering to organizational human resource policies and procedures as well as related employment laws.  Recommends hires and follows progressive discipline for personnel actions, up to and including recommendation of terminations for positions supervised.
  2. Leads the day-to-day operation of ACC Career Scholars Scholarship Program, including developing the plan and action of fiscal responsibilities  and management. 
  3. Recommends and monitors departmental budget for ACC Career Scholars Program.  Services as a budget authority and manages the preparation and monitoring of unit budget and purchase requisitions.
  4. Develops and executes training modules to support staff development.
  5. Advises the Associate Vice President of the College and High School Relations on matters regarding assigned programs/services; Provides information, advice, and documents to the staff, administrators, and others as necessary.
  6. Oversees the review and selection process for Career Scholars students.
  7. Analyzes and evaluates other high school programs to identify best practices.
  8. Develops, assesses, and revises Career Scholars program deliverables as needed.
  9. Works closely with both school district and ACC Administration to coordinate efforts to improve success rates among all high school programs.
  10. Provides regular written reports to ACC Administration and funding source on progress of Career Scholar students.
  11. Develops communications and communication campaign to ensure messaging to Career Scholars students and their families.
  12. Ensures enrollment, retention/persistence, and completion of Career Scholars students.
  13. Analyzes data to create or alter operations plan to meet annual goals.
