General Statement of Job

Responsible for managing ACC's Preventative Maintenance Program, Maintenance Work Order System and Safety & Operations project management.

Description of Duties and Tasks

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Provides scope for and design for ACC strategic deferred maintenance initiatives, including the implementation of other long-range strategic initiatives as determined by the senior management.
  2. Supervises, trains, coaches, directs, coordinates, and disciplines personnel while adhering to the organizational human resources policies and procedures as well as related employment laws. Recommends hire and termination personnel actions for positions supervised.
  3. Manages and supervises major alterations and renovation projects, from initiation to completion; including project design, implementation, move-in, and life safety compliance.
  4. Supervises, reviews, and approves projects including; preparing initial project scope, budget and delivery schedules; secures project funding and procures service of design consultants or service vendors required to complete project scope of work; prepares and negotiates contracts; approves payments to vendors; ensures compliance with all applicable local ordinances, state, and federal codes and laws.
  5. Presents and reviews proposed solutions with educational department representatives, design consultants, and service vendors to ensure project scope meets client's needs; reviews design progress to ensure compliance with project budget, delivery schedule, and quality requirements in accordance with college standards and applicable codes.
  6. Directs and manages the overall design and renovation phases to meet the established project scope, budget, and schedule; meets with stakeholders to resolve potential problems and address concerns.
  7. Develops and oversees a comprehensive preventative maintenance program (Including; facility equipment/asset management, equipment design and repair, workforce management, etc.) to reduce long-term costs to the institution.

  8. Prepares reports to update project status to the Austin Community College District leadership, the Vice President of Safety and Operations, campus managers, and other stakeholders when applicable.
  9. Reviews, suspends/rejects, or approves all services invoices and commodity procurements; monitors payment processing with other departments to ensure timely processing of vendor payments; verifies services or commodities invoices are complete and satisfactory.
  10. Leads selected special projects that require cross-functional engagement with key staff across the organization.
  11. In the context of the Public Affairs and Campus Operations annual work plan(s), researches and analyzes technologies that have the potential to impact facility systems that support student success.
  12. Develops and implements maintenance procedures, preventative maintenance procedures and planned maintenance procedures and programs.
  13. Serves as the lead technical person for mechanical, troubleshooting, and similar maintenance issues.
  14. Assists in the development of the Safety and Operations annual plans and related budget.
  15. May perform internal engineering reviews when applicable.
