General Statement of Job

To provide academic leadership, management, and assistance with the overall coordination of activities to be performed in Health Sciences.

Description of Duties and Tasks

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Effectively engages all stakeholders, assists the Dean in the development and implementation of a comprehensive and integrative strategic plan for Health Sciences in alignment with the College strategic plan. 
  2. Addresses student, faculty and staff concerns pertaining to instructional issues.
  3. Assists the Dean with schedule development, and with planning and implementing college-wide activities.
  4. Responsible for maintaining daily operations and committee assignments in Dean's absence.
  5. Coordinates risk management activities for the Health Sciences Department, maintains records and generates reports on faculty and student accidents, and develops implements safety policies and procedures.
  6. Collaborates with a diverse group of external stakeholders to establish contracts and affiliation agreements for all clinical placements for all Health Sciences programs, continuing education health programs, and other division's programs. (Over 200 active agreements).
  7. Assists Department chairs in preparing for accreditation.
  8. Participates on college-wide committees as assigned representing the department/division.
  9. Ensures compliance of all Health Sciences students in a clinical course, including criminal background, drug screening, and all other compliance requirements for all area healthcare agencies.
  10. Serves as HIPAA privacy officer, chairs the HIPAA Committee, and coordinates HIPAA compliance audits for all required departments.
  11. Coordinates the Health Sciences annual Open House and the completion ceremonies for all Health Sciences programs.
  12. Assists with ongoing special projects.
  13. Supervises the administrative staff that report to the Dean.
  14. Supports the Dean in having a regular administrative physical presence at EVC, RR, and Elgin to provide support.
  15. Assists with the oversight of the operation of the Regional Simulation Center at the HLC (summer 2020); explore and support increased inter-professional collaboration between ACC Health Sciences programs and outside educational institutions.
  16. Oversee ongoing processes that evaluate policies and procedures related to Health Sciences and ensure alignment with accreditation standards and college policies ( i. e. handbook template; progressive discipline forms).
