General Statement of Job

The Chief Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Officer (CEDIO) creates and manages the development and implementation of proactive initiatives to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion  in support of the College's strategic plan. They will collaborate with the college community to facilitate the enhancement of the learning and working environment where all individuals have an opportunity to succeed and play a significant role in developing plans and training programs to ensure equity, diversity, and inclusion in our programs, policies, and culture.

Description of Duties and Tasks

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Serves as a liaison and resource within the organization to ensure the coordination and implementation of equity and inclusion best practice strategies throughout the organization.
  2. Coordinates a College-wide Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Council to plan multicultural events and make recommendations for College actions that help build a welcoming and inclusive culture at the College for all students, faculty, and staff.
  3. Develops internal communication strategies on the College's equity and inclusion objectives and programs.
  4. Identifies and plans professional development programs to raise awareness and develop best practices to cultivate a culture of civility, respect, and ethical behavior.
  5. Collaborates with the appropriate offices to coordinate professional development programs about equity and inclusion. Coordinates with the Teaching and Learning Excellence Division on faculty programs and the Human Resources Staff Professional Development office on staff programs.
  6. Collaborates with Human Resources on the development of promotional materials for use in the recruitment and hiring process.
  7. Collaborates with the Office of Institutional Effectiveness to gather and review data on equity, diversity, and inclusion and assess its impact on the College's overall culture and performance.
  8. Oversees periodic assessment of the campus culture and uses results to design programs and interventions to improve the culture of equity and inclusion and enhance student success and achievement by developing and facilitating  a research-informed plan to increase student success.
  9. Collaborates with College stakeholders to assess potential barriers to equity and inclusion and develop strategies to recruit and retain a diverse workforce.
  10. Collaborates with Student Affairs to build student-led equity initiatives, to recruit and engage diverse students, to enrich the campus climate, and to support student success.
