To provide planning, implementation, and coordination services for service learning placement and monitoring, and nonprofit/agency recruitment and relations.

Description of Duties and Tasks

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Assists faculty in designing, implementing, and evaluating service-learning courses; provides logistical support to service-learning faculty.
  2. Provides a service-learning orientation to students in service-learning classes; advises students about professional etiquette and appropriate ways to interact with the community.
  3. Establishes and maintain positive communication with faculty, students, and community partners to explore and develop opportunities to incorporate service-learning into the curriculum; helps troubleshoot site or student issues as they arise.
  4. Develops, updates, distributes and collects all relevant service-learning paperwork.
  5. Assesses and documents program effectiveness through faculty, student, and agency evaluations; prepares reports on service-learning activities.
  6. Addresses safety and risk management measures appropriate to the program.
  7. Identifies and selects new community organizations; updates and maintains the community partner database and calendar of events.
  8. Coordinates various events, activities, and fairs on topics related to service-learning career planning, and other experiential learning opportunities.
  9. Successfully represent the office in the classroom and in the community with a strong professional presence.
  10. Confer with and assist the Director of Experiential Learning in the performance of program administration and activities.
  11. Evaluates effectiveness of programs and recommends improvements or changes.
  12. Assists in the preparation of informal and promotional materials for use in outreach activities.
  13. Other duties as assigned by the Director.
