The Associate Director of College Communications Relations will join a talented and innovative team within the Office of Communications & Marketing and will be responsible for generating positive visibility and attention that will continue to enhance the reputation of the college and support the college's brand awareness, strategic marketing goals, and educational mission to reach and engage with multicultural communities.

Reporting to the director of college communications, the associate director will be a strong project manager and expert writer/editor across traditional, web, and multimedia platforms. This individual will serve as the strategic and editorial lead for collegewide communications both internally and externally. Description of Duties and Tasks

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Supervises, training, coaches, directs, coordinates, and disciplines assigned staff while adhering to organization human resource policies and procedures as well as related employment laws. Recommends hire and termination personnel actions for positions supervised.
  2. Works with the Director of College Communications to co-create and execute strategic internal and external communications plans to increase ACC awareness and public engagement, including among multicultural community stakeholders.
  3. Understands the needs of the various audience groups and stakeholders across the college to architect key messages and identify optimal modes of communication and technology channels.
  4. Works closely with key partners and teams to ensure communications align with overall college goals and strategies.
  5. Serves as college communications relations project manager to align messaging and plans across internal and external channels and partners and establish communication operating rhythms so that communications are clear and consistent.
  6. Collaborates with communications and marketing leadership to manage projects from initiation through completion.
  7. Serves as expert writer/editor across traditional, web, and multimedia platforms. Includes researching, writing, and editing materials to create proactive, effective, and responsive audience-targeted content for the college's culturally diverse communities.
  8. Supports oversight of the college's social media presence. Includes working with the social media team to identify relevant content topics to reach the college's culturally diverse communities.
  9. Collaborates with communications and marketing teams to produce social media advertising campaigns that identify, engage, and activate target audiences based on college marketing priorities.
  10. Works with and may supervise writers, photographers, videographers, designers, media relations specialists, and marketers, identifying editorial opportunities of interest.
  11. Evaluates and monitors metrics for digital channels to make recommendations for adjustments to editorial calendar plans for multichannel platforms as needed.
  12. Collaborates with others to build and cultivate an expert speakers bureau to increase awareness and community relations, including among multicultural and underserved populations.
  13. Helps maintain a college database for external communications and community relations.
  14. Provides support in development and execution of emergency communications.
  15. Develops and drives content creation and distribution from initiation through completion to increase ACC awareness and public engagement, including among multicultural and underserved populations.
  16. Serves as managing editor and senior-level writer/editor for the college's multichannel platforms (web, digital, and email marketing channels). 
  17. Helps plan and implement daily and weekly communication tactics aligned with the college's communications strategy. 
  18. Researches, writes, and edits materials to create proactive, effective, and responsive audience-targeted content for the college's culturally diverse communities.
  19. Helps develop and implement social media campaigns and content that identify, engage, and activate target audiences based on college marketing priorities.
  20. Maintains creative pulse on state of the industry, audience, and market opportunities. 
  21. Recognizes situations that have publication and/or news value and promote recognition of ACC faculty and staff, its students, programs, offices, and initiatives.
  22. May serve as spokesperson for collegewide community engagement events including multicultural events. 
  23. Performs other duties as assigned.
