General Statement of Job

To help develop, implement, and manage a consistent pipeline of high-impact internal college communications to promote engagement and overall integrity of the ACC culture.  Under the direction of the Office of Communication and Marketing (OCM), this position serves as the college's lead copy editor and works in a cross-functional capacity with Academic Affairs, Student Services, College Operations, Human Resources, and Business Services to foster effective, consistent, and timely internal communications relevant to ACC faculty, staff, and students in support of the college's mission to reach and engage with its culturally diverse employees.

Description of Duties and Tasks

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Works with the Director of College Communications to develop and support broad-based communications strategies with a focus on internal communications.
  2. Develops, writes, and distributes a range of internal communications to increase awareness among faculty, staff, and students of college news and information.
  3. Plans, writes, and manages college's internal communications channels, including Faculty-Staff webpage, monthly electronic newsletter, and employee social media platforms.
  4. Serves as a communications partner and subject matter expert by providing proactive, strategic communications.
  5. Ensures all messaging adheres to highest grammar and writing standards and reflects the college's culture, tone, and external messaging.
  6. Assists departments with reporting, writing, editing, and distributing information on events, services, programs, initiatives, and procedures to internal and external audiences.
  7. Develops and manages relationships with key internal stakeholders, executives, and department leaders to ensure effective and relevant communications.
  8. Ensures the internal communications strategy solicits input through formal and informal feedback channels and reports findings to management.
  9. Serves as college's lead copy editor/proofer.
  10. Assists college leadership with developing, writing, and editing annual reports, presentations, and high-priority publications.
  11. Promotes the college's strategic plan goals and priorities.
  12. Stays attuned to the internal climate and alerts communications team of opportunities and concerns.
  13. Contributes to the development of marketing collateral including effective multicultural copy for web pages and campaign pieces.
  14. Monitors key performance indicators established by OCM for engagement with employee communications content, and uses key measurement data to inform future decisions about employee communications work.
  15. Stays current on emerging communications technologies, content management, and industry best practices.
  16. Assists with the daily operation of the Chancellor's Office database.
