Reports To Department Chair, Communication Studies
Criminal Background Check Pre-employment criminal background checks are required for all Staff and Faculty positions. Pre-employment urinalyses drug screens are also required for all top candidates considered for positions in ACC's College Police department.
General Statement of Job

To instruct students in Communication Studies courses in accordance with College policies and procedures.

Description of Duties and Tasks

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Instructs students in the Communication Studies discipline. Provides learning activities that stimulate student involvement and encourage critical thinking.
  2. Demonstrating creativity and innovation in the field, service in the profession and/or the community.
  3. Teaches a variety of courses in Communication Studies.
  4. Assists in instructional program development by helping to set goals and objectives for the Communication Studies Department.
  5. Maintains and submits accurate and timely student performance records.
  6. Plans and organizes lesson plans, research and reference materials, syllabi, and other learning aids. Contributes to the development of course objectives and curriculum.
  7. Maintains required office hours to assist students.
  8. Conducts required department learning objective assessments and submits results as required.
  9. Serves on college-wide and departmental committees.
  10. Participates in college-wide and departmental committees, graduation, general assembly, and other official College functions.
  11. Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Department Chair, Dean, and/or Executive Vice President.
