General Statement of Job

Responsible for coordination and engagement with Austin Community College's social media community in support of the college's positive brand awareness, strategic marketing goals, and educational mission to reach and engage with culturally diverse audiences.

Description of Duties and Tasks

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Coordinates day-to-day duties, including creating and updating content for ACC social media accounts, curating the editorial calendar, drafting social copy, capturing photos and videos, and planning and implementing campaigns across various online platforms.
  2. Oversees a monthly social media calendar creation for each channel and posts daily to each social media channel.
  3. Monitors ACC information shared online and regularly updates the college's narrative.
  4. Participates in and provides social media coverage of campus events and other storytelling opportunities.
  5. Monitors social channels for community engagement and conversation opportunities; joins the conversation on social media platforms through outreach and response. Responds appropriately to follower comments and messages.
  6. Participates in social media duties during emergency communications situations.
  7. Creates engaging social media content that fits with the ACC social media strategy.
  8. Builds and maintains relationships with campus staff and student groups to coordinate social network activity and optimize promotional opportunities across the college.
  9. Supports media relations efforts with writing, planning, coordination, and execution of activities and events that promote the college's image.
  10. Engages in offline outreach to increase levels of online social media engagement including the college's Social Media Ambassadors group.
  11. Focuses on analytics/reporting to ensure college marketing priorities are being met and social media is being leveraged most effectively.
  12. Tracks emerging trends, communities, and platforms and recommends engagement where relevant for college.
  13. Conceptualizes new ways to increase ACC awareness and user engagement (videos, slideshows, podcasts, online animations, and social applications).
  14. Assists in the creation of visual storytelling for social (videos, graphics, and photographs).
