Hours As assigned - up to 19 hours per week.

To support students with disabilities in an academic setting in order to facilitate access to course content and materials.

PLEASE NOTE: This hourly position pays from $11.25/hour to $13.25/hour based on assignment as Access Assistant I, II or III.

Access Assistant I - 0 to 1 year experience; fall/spring, spring/summer/summer/fall - any two semesters within 12 month period
Access Assistant II - 1 to 2 years experience; 3 - 5 semesters
Access Assistant III - Special skills (STEM, Allied Health, lab settings, etc.) - 5 years of more or specific, related experience

Description of Duties and Tasks

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Attends class/lab with student.
  2. Acts as reader and/or scribe, including note taking before, after or in class, lab, or testing environment.
  3. Facilitates computer and technology access as appropriate.
  4. May assist access to technology as appropriate.
  5. May describe graphics or pictures in the classroom, lab or testing environment.
  6. May assist student with object manipulation during laboratory classes as needed.

Must possess required knowledge and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
