General Statement of Job

To analyze, develop, lead, and implement analytical data warehouse, data integration/data manipulation (ETL), systematic/automated reporting capabilities, and interactive web-based sites related to institutional research and analytics.

Description of Duties and Tasks

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Interviews users, gathers requirements, ensures data quality control, designs, codes, and develops software solutions to meet customer requirements.
  2. Performs complex analytical and technical work/programming by utilizing various computer applications and databases in relates to data integration, data manipulation, ETL, and Business Intelligence (BI) such as SAS, JavaScript, SQL, Visual Basic, Excel, SAS Visual Analytics, Domo, Tableau, and/or other tools used for reporting/dashboarding.
  3. Designs and develops automated programs to generate statistical reports and analyses for collegewide use, federal reporting, and external surveys.
  4. Analyzes data and develops business dashboards for administrators, department chairs, and faculties.
  5. Serves as a technical resource in finding programming/reporting solutions for internal users and in providing support/advice with issues relating to database and reporting systems.
  6. Conducts research and resolves problems in relation to processes, and monitors processes to determine areas for improvement.
  7. Creates and maintains documentation for processes related to newly developed programs and/or modifications to existing programs.
  8. Creates test plan and data, conducts tests, and debugs programs, for either in-house or vendor supplied software.
  9. Maintains the data processing processes and reports generation to make sure information presented is up to date.
  10. Ensures compliance with facility standards relating to security and data protection.
  11. Implements and maintains software application packages and conducts user training as required.
  12. May mentor other staff and review other's work products as assigned.
  13. May provide technical support, advice, and consultation to customers with issues relating to database(s) and reporting system(s).
