To plan, direct, and implement the overall program goals and objectives of a Fashion Incubator (Incubator) at Austin Community College (ACC). The director is responsible for the success and quality of the projects under the Incubator.

Description of Duties and Tasks

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Facilitates development of the Vision, Mission, Goals, and Strategic Plan for the Fashion Incubator.  Serves as liaison across all Austin Community College (ACC) departments in the development of the strategic, business, and operational plans for the Fashion Incubator.  Works to develop a business plan for the incubator.
  2. Manages the implementation, operation, and evaluation of the Incubator for ACC in accordance with project goals, objectives, and established timelines. Collaborates with the City of Austin Economic Development Department and others to establish a permanent Fashion Incubator. 
  3. Plans, schedules, and manages Incubator manufacturing production processes, including planning and directing an efficient layout of equipment and flow of materials and ensuring manufacturing performance, volume and quality goals are met.  Serves as the industry liaison for coordinating any production or contract activities carried out by the Incubator.
  4. Works with assigned personnel to manage the incubator budget.
  5. Actively recruits emerging fashion design entities to the Incubator and works closely with entrepreneurs, economic development interests, and others to create a critical mass of fashion partners in Central Texas. Markets the Incubator and its activities to industry for the purpose of soliciting support for the Incubator.
  6. Supervises, trains, coaches, directs, coordinates, and evaluates assigned personnel while adhering to organizational human resource policies and procedures, as well as related employment laws.
  7. Regularly monitors facilities, equipment, materials, resources, and budget, and makes recommendations for changes in Fashion Incubator operations.  Plans, coordinates, and monitors Fashion Incubator renovation and construction projects in coordination with the Facilities and Operations department.
  8. Maintains a safe and compliant workspace for tenant companies and/or interns of the Incubator.
  9. Contributes to curriculum development as a result of work carried out in the Incubator.  Coordinates with ACC Deans and department chairs regarding faculty and student internships in the Incubator.
  10. Serves as liaison with Public Information and College Marketing in the design and promotion of public relations and marketing initiatives for the Fashion Incubator.
  11. Oversees the Fashion Incubator Advisory Board; provides training for roles and responsibilities of members; and supports the administrative needs of the board.
  12. Maintains a wide variety of professional contacts in order to remain abreast of developments in the field and to promote visibility of ACC Fashion Design programs.  Ensures that new and emerging technologies, materials and processes are incorporated into the operations of the Incubator.
  13. Represents the college on councils, committees, and agencies within the Fashion industry economic sector.
