General Statement of Job

To develop, coordinate, implement, evaluate and/or sustain instructional initiatives including the Open Educational Resources Degree Initiatives and the Weekend College and Blocked Schedule pathways for students seeking an Associate degree.

Description of Duties and Tasks

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Supports current and future Weekend College, eight-week session, and Blocked Schedule initiatives.
  2. Supports current and future Open Educational Resources (OER) and inclusive access initiatives.
  3. Evaluates and makes recommendations related to ongoing improvement and/or expansion of Weekend College, eight-week session, OER, and Blocked Schedule program pathways.
  4. Works with instructional department chairs and deans, and other areas of the college as needed, to schedule and track OER sections, expand the number of OER sections, courses and degrees, and maintain and analyze data related to OER initiatives.
  5. Coordinates with instructional department chairs and deans to map out classes and schedules so that designated  Weekend College programs, eight-week programs, and Blocked Schedule programs can be completed in two years.
  6. Coordinates with instructional department chairs and deans and the Office of Faculty Development to support the development of effective hybrid pedagogy and curriculum or other alternative instructional delivery methods where appropriate to support Weekend College, eight-week programs, and/or Blocked Schedule programs.
  7. Works with instructional department chairs and deans to recruit and support faculty who will be effective and committed to teaching in the Weekend College program, accelerated eight week, and Blocked Schedule programs.
  8. In conjunction with Communications & Marketing and other areas of the college as needed, creates and distributes recruiting and marketing materials in support of Weekend College, Blocked Schedule, eight-weeks, and OER degree and certificate pathways.
  9. Works with the Recruitment and Advising areas of the college to publicize Weekend College, eight-week, and Blocked Schedule classes.
  10. Supports the cohort model by providing information to advisors and recruiters about blocked schedules, eight-week programs, and Weekend College.  Works across disciplines to support potential learning communities in these programs each semester.
  11. Supports collaboration and communication about Weekend College, eight-week programs, and Blocked Schedule programs and goals.
  12. Supports, as needed, the work of instructional department chairs and deans to establish cohesive blocked schedules and/or eight-week schedules for designated transfer and workforce programs at a variety of campuses and times.
  13. Coordinates with stakeholders to ensure that Weekend College options, eight-week schedules, and Blocked Schedules are effectively communicated to students, advisers, and other stakeholders; Ensures that students can easily search for and register for Blocked Schedule, Weekend College, and eight-week classes in the Student Planning System.
