Austin Community College (ACC) is a public two-year institution that serves a diverse population of approximately 41,000 credit students each fall and spring semester. Austin Community College District (ACC) is a Hispanic-Serving Institution. ACC's designation as a Hispanic-Serving Institution reflects the commitment the college has to supporting our students' educational goals as well as the economic and social well-being of the surrounding communities we serve.  ACC currently enrolls approximately 41,500 students each Fall semester, over half of whom are non-white. In fall 2019, ACC's students were 42% White, 38% Latinx, 8% African-American, 6% Asian, <1% Pacific Islander, <1% Native-American, and 4% multiracial.

General Statement of Job

Provides campus leadership and strategic direction, operational management, and budgetary oversight for assigned areas including: advising, completion counseling, and testing/assessment. Supports efficacy of policies, programs, and services in accordance with best practices researched by state and national organizations which advance student success. Collaborates extensively with instruction and other key stakeholders to provide support to assigned Area(s) of Study and ensure that support services advances student success. Ensures that services are addressing the student needs of an increasingly minority-serving institution. Demonstrates a commitment to student success, equity and inclusion, service, excellence, innovation, and collaboration.

Description of Duties and Tasks

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Provides equity-centric leadership to develop, implement, and evaluate on-site and online services for academic and career advising, completion counseling, academic, and college readiness testing.
  2. Collaborates with a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders to deliver campus, regional, and/or districtwide support services to meet the institution's strategic goals to close equity gaps in access, persistence, and completion.
  3. Participates and collaborates with the district clinical counseling team to support Austin Community College's (ACC) Behavioral Intervention Team (CARES) to ensure a safe learning and working environment.
  4. Develops and fosters an interdisciplinary team approach with instructional deans, assistant deans, department chairs, faculty, and staff in assigned Areas of Study with a focus on closing the equity gaps and improve access, retention, and completion.
  5. Leads and serves as the student services liaison for assigned Area of Study.
  6. Hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates assigned student services personnel.
  7. Develops and is responsible for fiscal management of assigned areas and functions.
  8. Enforces the Student Standards of Conduct and disciplinary process including conducting investigations, determining student outcomes and ensuring that student rights and due process are protected in accordance to college policies and procedures
  9. Serves as the subject matter expert for instruction and/or other departments regarding student discipline and student complaints.
  10. Enforces policies and processes regarding Title IX, Title VI, and ADA.
  11. Ensures compliance with appropriate regulations of the Southern Association of College and Schools Commission on Colleges, Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, U.S. Department of Education, Texas Legislature, and other local, state, and federal regulatory bodies.
  12. Analyzes qualitative and quantitative data to consistently evaluate effectiveness, and reports on services and practices in assigned areas of advising, counseling, and testing to ensure focus on student success.
  13. Supports the implementation of strategic initiatives and new technologies to enhance delivery of services and improve student outcome.
  14. Leads district wide or campus projects, processes, and/or grants as assigned.
  15. Provides direct services to students as needed to include advising and completion counseling services.
