Location Highland Business Center
Hours 40 hours/week as assigned. Primarily Monday through Friday with some evenings and weekends.

General Statement of Job

To direct the planning, effective implementation, and administration of the Austin Community College (ACC) Adult Education Program.

Description of Duties and Tasks

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Supervises, monitors, coordinates, and assesses all Adult Education Program activities.
  2. Recruits, hires, supervises, trains, coaches, directs, coordinates, and monitors performance of  instructional staff and support staff while adhering to organizational human resource policies and procedures as well as related employment laws. Recommends hire and termination personnel actions for positions supervised.
  3. Develops and oversees the implementation of annual program plans and budgets based on institutional, Texas Workforce Commission (TWC), and other funding agency guidelines.
  4. Supervises the development of curricula and assessment systems to ensure that students acquire the skills and training to succeed in college or the workforce.
  5. Provides leadership in the development of department goals and objectives. Sets and supports program and staff performance goals.
  6. Manages Adult Education budgets, including institutional, federal, state, and local funding sources.
  7. Develops partnerships within the community for adult education services. Develops and implements agreements between ACC and partner organizations.
  8. Develops institutional partnerships with credit and continuing education programs were appropriate.  Works within the college's Guided Pathways context to ensure appropriate pathways from adult education programs into credit programs.
  9. Serves as fiscal agent responsible for federal and state adult education grants. Ensures program accountability.
  10. Implements and evaluates a targeted recruitment plan.
  11. Solicits grant opportunities funding to further goals and objectives of the Adult Education Department and its program partners. When grants are achieved, provides leadership to ensure the grants are fully functional and fiscally prudent.
  12. Prepares reports to fulfill college, state, and federal reporting requirements.
  13. Coordinates data collection and reporting for purposes of analyzing issues, ensuring compliance and accountability, and ensuring effective program review.
  14. Presents program performance reports to ACC Board of Trustees.
  15. Serves on regional and state adult education committees.
