General Statement of Job

To provide administrative and operations support for collegewide custodial services.

Description of Duties and Tasks

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Supports the day-to-day operations of the custodial services operations at Austin Community College.
  2. Schedules and tracks training for all custodial staff.
  3. Schedules meetings, assists in ongoing scheduling of custodial staff for daily work schedules as well as for special events, arranges for substitutes as needed, and dispatches staff for emergency requests; also assists in scheduling of seasonal cleanings; may also disseminate information at staff meetings or shift changes.
  4. Arranges laundry pick-up for all campuses and departments.
  5. Schedules, monitors, and maintains records of ongoing quality inspections to assist in the quality control efforts of the college's custodial program following established guidelines; may assist in conducting inspections regarding services, storing of supplies, and maintenance and repair of equipment to support completion of work assignments.
  6. Orders, maintains, and stores a sufficient quantity of cleaning supplies and assures the supplies at other locations are stored in a safe, secure, and orderly manner according to guidelines and reporting deviations from those guidelines to the manager in a prompt, timely manner.
  7. Periodically inspects custodial equipment, tests equipment to assure the equipment is in working order, arranges timely repair of equipment, and recommends replacement of equipment as needed to manager.
  8. Gathers information regarding accidents/incidents, compiles findings, and submits report along with recommendations for improvement to manager and any other entity within the college with a need-to-know.
  9. Reports safety hazards or situations to appropriate college personnel.
  10. Issues equipment and other work-related technology/work gear maintaining a log of checking in/out.
  11. Maintains records and written policies and procedures for custodial operations, keeps informed of changes in regulations that affect custodial operations, and notifies the manager so that potential changes can be reviewed and implemented by the college.
  12. Works with personnel both inside and outside the department along with outside agencies as needed.
