General Statement of Job

Responsible for districtwide strategic planning and operational management of career resources including oversight of community partner relations, events, technology, and special initiatives to establish best practices and enhance student success in career and transfer. Manage and direct resources and staff to provide districtwide career and transfer service offerings to internal and external stakeholders.

Description of Duties and Tasks

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Provides district leadership for Student Services Career and Transfer programs and initiatives with a concentration on career services and resources.
  2. Manages Austin Community College (ACC) District technologies for the purposes of career services (ensures compliance with college standards; reviews and approves submissions for posting of jobs, internships, mentors/mentees, experiential learning, employer requests to recruit on campuses, ACC educational opportunities, and transfer options as they relate to strengthening career opportunities).
  3. Conducts research for the purposes of evaluating and improving district career- and transfer-related services.
  4. Plans all aspects of career-related events, coordinates details, makes arrangements, and oversees events through completion.
  5. Conducts outreach activities and serves as communication liaison internally and externally for career initiatives, programs, and activities.
  6. Collaborates with academic departments to distribute area-specific career, job, and educational information.
  7. Establishes and maintains an active role within the community to promote career and transfer endeavors on behalf of students and employers. Develops and maintains effective relationships with employers and transfer institutions by serving as the initial point of contact for ACC District career services.
  8. Manages website content and updates.
  9. Manages requests from employers and colleges/universities to recruit on ACC District campuses.
  10. Monitors, tracks, compiles, and analyzes data for reports regarding student success rates in career and job outcomes.
  11. Maintains databases of employers, jobs, community contacts, and transfer information.
  12. Negotiates and facilitates purchase and effective maintenance of software, assessments, and licenses for ACC District career-related services.
  13. In close collaboration with Public Information and College Marketing, designs and disseminates career resource materials including flyers, brochures, posters, social media posts, etc.
  14. Ensures career services keep pace with emerging technologies to improve delivery or student access to available opportunities and services.
