To provide a positive and engaging experience for prospective students and current students through collegewide programming, and to act as a representative of student input regarding Areas of Study and Pathways processes.

Description of Duties and Tasks

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Represents Austin Community College (ACC) and the college's mission and core values in a positive and friendly manner through engaging experiences for current and prospective students.
  2. Serves as a student representative in each Area of Study in association with faculty coordinators, advisors, and counselors. Facilitates peer to peer presentations at Area of Study information sessions regarding Student Life programs, specifically student organizations, Common Service Experience, First Year Experience, Success Series Workshops, and Male Leadership Program.
  3. Facilitates discussion with students, gathering data, obtaining their reactions and opinions regarding new pathways systems, and related processes for input into Pathways Implementation Team. Participates in and co-facilitates student focus group regarding Area of Study processes.
  4. Provides important public relations and outstanding customer service at collegewide programs such as Welcome Week and Riverbat Bash; performs assigned tasks at designated focus groups and Area of Study sessions, and general ACC tours.
  5. Informs new and returning students about the many resources available to them at ACC: academic programs, faculty and students, physical facilities, social opportunities, and student support services through activities and events on campus. Provides supplemental information regarding Student Life opportunities to prospective students during general tours facilitated by Enrollment Management.
  6. Participates in ACC and Student Life Marketing such as Student Life Chronicle, blogging, social media, and advertisements in collaboration with Public Information and College Marketing. Participates in marketing and social media regarding Area of Study topics such as student organizations, programs, conferences, and professional development opportunities.
  7. Supports college stakeholders in promoting co-curricular activities, career exploration, and experiential opportunities for current and prospective students as related to Area of Study.
  8. Provides leadership in the collection of quality periodic updates regarding student involvement in Area of Study, student organizations, and involved student leaders.
  9. Works in alignment with Student Life to create a strong Riverbat Community.
  10. Facilitates collegewide events across ACC District. Facilitates schedule-building workshops during peak registration in collaboration with Student Services.
  11. Attends departmental trainings to gain knowledge and information in: Enrollment Management, Advising, and Student Life. Attends Area of Study information sessions to become familiar with process.
