General Statement of Job

Responsible for the planning and development of collegewide services supporting instruction. The Office of Instructional Services provides direct administrative oversight and supervision of Distance Learning, Faculty Development and Evaluation, External Learning Experiences, Instructional Development Services, Articulation, Curriculum Management, and Library Services. The AVP provides leadership for planning, operating, funding, and budget decisions relating to those departments providing collegewide support to instructional units.

Description of Duties and Tasks

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Provides leadership in the development and implementation of an integrated program of campus-based and collegewide online instructional services which support the college's instructional programs.
  2. Provides leadership in the development and implementation of instructional design, development, and production services that support the use and integration of technology in instruction.
  3. Oversees the development and delivery of training to support the distributed learning technologies of the college.
  4. Promotes activities to develop and support distributed learning initiatives and technologies, including state and national initiatives as appropriate.
  5. Leads the strategic planning of collegewide services supporting instruction.
  6. Provides overall leadership in operations and coordinates activities of the units in the Office of Instructional Services.
  7. As appropriate, utilizes data analytics to assess effectiveness of key Instructional Services initiatives and support strategies.
  8. Plans overall budget development of units and appraises annual performance.
  9. Provides leadership and supervision to staff. Coaches, directs, mentors, evaluates, and counsels personnel while adhering to organizational human resource policies and procedures as well as related employment laws. Recommends personnel actions including hiring, progressive discipline or termination for positions managed.
