General Statement of Job

Responsible for ensuring the college's compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and other related safety and security regulations including the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA). Serves as the college's Clery Compliance Officer.

Description of Duties and Tasks

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Manages, facilitates, and audits the college's Clery Compliance program including developing policies and procedures and tracking corrective actions to completion.
  2. Trains and/or facilitates training of key stakeholders on Clery Act requirements.
  3. In conjunction with the applicable departments, ensures that Clery and VAWA-related policies, procedures, programs, systems, and activities are developed, implemented, and maintained.
  4. Collaborates with Student Services, the Title IX Compliance Officer, Student Life, and Human Resources to ensure the overlap created between Title IX and Clery by the reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act is properly addressed.
  5. Audits all Austin Community College (ACC) departments to identify and maintain lists of ACC Campus Security Authorities as related to the Clery Act. Provides, facilitates, or manages the training of Campus Security Authorities.
  6. Develops and manages a system through which Campus Security Authorities report crimes ensuring timely reporting of crimes.
  7. Works with Campus Security Authorities to ensure the timely reporting of crimes.
  8. Ensures an accurate record of ACC's Clery geography is maintained to facilitate correct and complete recording of Clery crime statistics by ACC District Police.
  9. Works with ACC District Police to ensure compliance with crime disclosure requirements, both Clery crime statistics and daily crime log. Oversees the college's Timely Warning and Emergency Notification program in cooperation with ACC District Police and Emergency Management Office.

  11. Collaborates with the ACC Emergency Management Office to ensure that tests of emergency response and evacuation procedures are completed each year and that documentation includes all required components to meet the Clery Act's definition of a test.
  12. Ensures the Annual Security Report properly reflects compliance with the Drug Free Schools and Safe Campuses regulations.
  13. Stays abreast of changes to the Clery Act, VAWA, and other laws or regulations affecting assigned areas of responsibility.
  14. Serves as the records custodian for Clery Act compliance records and as recording secretary for the Clery Compliance Committee (working group) and Clery Steering Committee (executive oversight).
  15. Prepares, publishes, and distributes (to current students and employees) the Annual Security Report. Ensures notices announcing the availability of the Annual Security Report are properly developed and distributed to prospective students and employees.
