General Statement of Job

To manage the Advanced Commercialization ACCelerator (ACA) lab facilities and related contract research services with students, faculty, tenants, and associated companies and to support the overall program goals and objectives of the Advanced Commercialization ACCelerator at Austin Community College. This position is a grant-funded, full-time position for the remainder of the grant terms. The goal is for the position to be fully-self-supporting by the end of the initial grant period.

Description of Duties and Tasks

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Manages the day-to-day activities and services of the ACA labs including management of lab equipment, tenant companies, and related personnel/student lab activities.
  2. Manages the execution of contract research services including providing research support, determining equipment needs, and supervising faculty and students involved with those projects. Works with the Director and associated companies to plan contract research agreements.
  3. Monitors the ACA lab to ensure compliance with Current Good Manufacturing Processes (cGMP) and other health and safety regulations. Promotes safe lab practices among tenant companies, faculty, and students.
  4. Initiates purchase requisitions and monitors expenditures for ACA. Maintains an inventory of supplies, chemicals, and and materials.
  5. Researches, evaluates, and recommends new equipment and lab services; may prepare cost estimates for budget recommendation and/or submit justifications and request for capital outlay items.
  6. Installs, configures and/or calibrates new equipment; develops and maintains the preventative maintenance schedule program for applicable equipment throughout the facility, performs routine maintenance and repair; arranges for repair as needed.
  7. May provide training to students, faculty, or other personnel in the use of equipment and lab facilities.
