Location Highland Campus
Hours 6-9 pm, 2 days a week for 10 weeks.
Salary $31.25/hr

General Statement of Job

To provide specialized, short term instruction to returning adult learners to cover the gap between the academic knowledge that most high school and GED graduates have and the academic knowledge they will need to be successful in college entrance exams.

Description of Duties and Tasks

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Provides specialized, short term instruction to returning adult learners.
  2. Correlates curriculum and instruction to the Texas College and Career Readiness Standards.
  3. Works with Community Action Career Counselor and Agency partners (Texas State College of Education Central GREAT Center) to develop and refine college prep curriculum.
  4. Utilizes best practices in regard to classroom management in order to foster student persistence and success.
  5. Collaborates closely with other college prep teachers, Transitions Program Coordinator, and other appropriate personnel to maximize college prep academic benefits for each individual student.
  6. Offers college prep students opportunities for one-on-one instruction and counseling.
  7. Attends staff and other meetings as assigned.
  8. Manages time and classroom effectively; serves as a positive role model for students.
