General Statement of Job

To support the Drama Department productions and activities, lead technical theater crews for performances, and assist with department operations.

Description of Duties and Tasks

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Leads crews successfully in at least two areas of the following production areas: Make-up Artistry; Costume/Wardrobe; Live Sound Engineering; Scenic Painting; Media for Live Performance; Stage Lighting; Stage Rigging; Stage Properties; Stage Carpentry; Stage Management; Production Management, Arts Administration.
  2. Implements plans for assigned department productions.
  3. Maintains equipment and department operational spaces during each assigned production.
  4. Regularly organizes, cleans, and prepares materials, supplies, and equipment of assigned department operational spaces/facilities.
  5. Maintains an inventory of supplies and materials for equipment within assigned production areas.
  6. Sets-up, configures, and/or calibrates new equipment in assigned areas; may perform routine maintenance and repair.
  7. Supervises the strike of equipment and materials following each assigned production.
  8. Updates department production schedules.
  9. Coordinates department activities with the chair and other production staff.
  10. Maintains records and files; compiles data and reports as needed.
  11. Recommends cost estimates for budget and capital outlay items.
  12. Attends department meetings and assigned productions.
  13. Keeps current and knowledgeable about production methodologies.
