General Statement of Job

To coordinate clinical simulation learning lab facilities and services in Emergency Medical Services Professions (EMSP) Program.

Description of Duties and Tasks

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Coordinates day-to-day activities and services of the assigned EMSP lab/clinic area including scheduling, lab/clinic set up, and management of lab/clinic equipment and supplies; coordinates the scheduling of clinicals with clinical sites and requests clinical opportunities for students at least a semester in advance when possible.
  2. Implements simulation activities as required.
  3. Maintains records of all related faculty certifications, CPR requirements, training requirements of clinical sites, and HIPAA requirements as required by the department.
  4. Maintains records of all related student certifications, CPR requirements, immunization records, training requirements of clinical sites, and HIPAA requirements as required by the department.
  5. Maintains Blackboard clinical courses information including, but not limited to, course documents, clinical goals and objectives, and site-specific information; coordinates closely with faculty in charge of clinical packets for updates and changes to forms and requirements.
  6. Provides assistance to instructors and/or students in a clinical lab setting; may provide training to faculty, staff, and/or students on use of clinical and lab equipment; monitors compliance with clinical policies; works with clinical lead instructors to ensure enforcement of those policies.
  7. Trains students on entering data into the clinical electronic program; audits the electronic program to ensure that the clinical data entered by the student is accurate.
  8. Ensures that the lab, support areas, and clinic are clean, safe and organized; promotes safe lab/clinic practices.
  9. Receives clinical documentation from students ensuring that the documents are received on time as per the requirements of the department.
  10. Repairs or coordinates the repair of lab/clinical equipment as required.
  11. Responds to inquiries inside and outside of Austin Community College (ACC); may work with organizations outside of ACC in relation to providing lab services.
  12. Acts as a liaison between lab/clinical personnel, the department chair, and the Safety Office.
  13. May tutor or supervise students and/or coordinate the work of other personnel.
  14. May research, evaluate, and recommend new lab/clinic materials, equipment, or policies.
